We Do Music.
I believe that as we grow into become the best versions of ourselves as professionals, contributing to our future society, it is essential that we become as well rounded as possible. We need to be physically fit, intellectually bright, and emotionally sensitive. The strongest link to emotional sensitivity is the fine arts. As students participate in fine arts programs, they are able to build and maintain that balance developing throughout their years in the public school system. There are studies that show the strong correlation between students that participate in both fine arts and challenging academics. Music helps us build a bridge allowing students to express an emotion, and often many emotions at the same time, while using their instrument. A practice similar to this was adopted by the ancient Greek culture. The connections students are allowed to make help channel these emotions and experiences in a positive and safe environment.
When we allow students to express their emotions and experiences as well as individuality and creativity, we allow student to aid in their own personal development and the development of our country. America is built on the ideas of individuality and innovative thinking. The arts are able to allow students to explore these qualities. It also allows them to see that art is not always right or wrong but merely same and different. When learning an instrument, students develop many skills where physically music can help develop students’ hand-eye coordination and can teach them that the success of a performance never comes over night where as proper consistent practice is essential to success. Music also motivates student to manage their time and to be responsible.

Contrary to what most individuals believe about music lessons, lessons do not have to be stressful or intimidating. As an educator I strive for all levels of progress. As learners, we all learn at different rates, in different ways, and in different places. As I strive to be a lifetime learner, I encourage theses multipile entelligence as we learn about music. We strive to explore what is different in our own way and I believe that the journey getting there, and those experiences, are what we are truly learning.
